Modular Corvettes and Frigates Empty Modular Corvettes and Frigates

Just like the Destroyer I think that creating a modular corvette and frigate build system would solve alot of fleet issues.

For each type of Modular Corvette or Frigate you would have three base frames to choose from

Tanked - adds 10% hitpoints to the corvette or frigate, two upgrade slots for add any type of corvette type or frigate weapon.
Speed - adds 10% velocity to the corvette or frigate, three upgrade slots for any type of corvette type or frigate weapon.
Damage - adds 10% damage to any weapon mounted, three upgrade slots for any type of corvette type or
frigate weapon.

Sounds too much like micromanagement of the construction end of things.
These ships are fast mass production vessels, need to be out and done quickly, imo.

Very true ALC, but if the Corvettes and Frigates are built with attachment points that are the same as the weapons modules attachment points then any weapon can be mounted to the corvette or frigate in the same time that it would take to mount a ship based specific weapons module.

Maybe there would be a better way, to make a 3 new techs, with ability to choose only one of em? With preset upgraded models of corvettes, so you will do not have to micro every single squad.

You basically are already making that choice when upgrading your ships... You don`t HAVE TO take 1-1-1, you could go for 2-0-0 as well.

Yeah, later I thought about it, and after all, I don't see the point of this suggestion at all now.

Each squad could be built on the modular design where once the Corvette left the hangar it would then go through the Upgrade Facility where the squad as a whole would be upgraded.

Why not make the modular corvette a single unit ship instead of being in a squadron? The modular corvette could be scripted like the mine layer corvette is to only have one ship in the squadron.

It should be rather easy to take the minelayer corvette and convert it into a modular corvette since the mechanics of it being a single unit are already present all that has to be done is too change the model and scripting to allow upgradeable hard points.

The corvette class already covers most of the tasks it should. It would only be overlapping. These small ships aren`t meant to be modular, they are meant to have different chassis.

Having different chassis would thus enable them to support a modular weapon systems.
