Homeworld Rebirth - Spectator

If a map is created with four player start locations are two of the player start locations able to be made into Spectator's where they would be part of the mappings environment where they would remain neutral unless attacked?

I added Spectators to each map as players and within a few seconds of the map starting the Spectator is destroyed.
